Kawakawa with its facinating new park and toilets true Hundertwasser style Hundertwasser Park.
Very inspiring if you are an art and design lover like most.
The Hokianga on the Westcoast is absolutely stunning. The massive harbour with its green/blue ocean and massive sand dune. Epic west coast surfing and Fish N’ Chips.
This is also the location of Tane Mahuta- Lord of the forest, this Massive Kauri tree is an increadible sight in beautiful native New Zealand bush. Horse trekking and sandboarding should be on everyones agenda in this place.
In Māori mythology, Tāne is the god of forests and of birds, and the son of Ranginui and Papatūānuku, the sky father and the earth mother, who used to lie in a tight embrace where their many children lived in the darkness between them. On Tahiti, Tane was the god of peace and beauty. Wikipedia
The Light house at Cape Reinga, the furthest North tip of New Zealand. Stunning sceneries and a very spiritual place. This is a three hour drive from paihia though so plan this ahead and maybe stay a night or two along the way.
Doubtless Bay is our favourite and the always very accommodating Mangonui Motel is a stunning motel in the heart of town AND walking distance to Restaurants, Pubs and Cafe’s.
Have a beautiful recharge season,
Much Aroha,
