March Madness in the Bay of Islands

Is March the best time of year in Northland? YES!

The ocean is clear, warm and beautiful. Fishing is outstanding, the surfs up and beaches and Islands are not as crowded as they have been through summer. Yes, I believe this is most definitely the best time of year.

The tracks at the Waitangi Mountain Bike Park are freshly groomed and epic. It still gets a bit too hot in the park midday but early mornings or afternoons are perfect.

Cool down on the beach with a nice drink in Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island. Heaps of activities like kayaking and paddle boarding for the kids to get up to out there as well.  Bring snorkel gear and head over to your own private beach.

I also highly recommend the Glow worm caves in Kawiti (just outside of Kawakawa). Or the Kauri tree walk in Puketi Forest.

Sand boarding at Te Paki stream on your way to the light house in Cape Reinga. Don’t forget to stop in Coopers beach for an ice cream or Fish N Chips on the beach.

Go Kayaking under the horse shoe shaped waterfall in Haruru Falls with Cruise and Kayak Bay of Islands.

So much to do in Northland and the Bay of Islands so make sure to book your accommodation for 3 nights minimum.

See you out there whanau.

Much Aroha,

Jules
