July School Holidays!

Crazy how time flies, this means 24 more weeks until Christmas…jeepers…well lets not dive too deep into that madness right now.

This month we are not only celebrating Mānawatia a Matariki (Maori New Year) a special time for all New Zealanders to spend with friends and family but we are also celebrating the reopening of the Brynderwyns and an even faster drive to the Bay of Islands from Auckland.

Google maps is telling me it is precicely 3 hours and 5 minutes, that is of course relevent to whether or not there is a mandatory stop at the fabulous Choclate factory in Mangawai

Whether you want to get up to the Bay of Islands as fast as you can or make a few stops along the way our beautiful little Bay is absolutely winter buzzing at the moment. The ocean is calm and absolutely stunning for a fabulous Island cruise  or out to the hole in the Rock. Or if a full day out on the water is not your cuppa maybe a little River & Kayak cruise up to the waterfall in Haruru suits you better?

To keep the kids entartained for the weekend we always recommend hitting the trails at the Waitangi Mountain Bike Park. IT’S FREE! Absolutely awesome trails that suit all levels.

Not to mention some of our epic restaurants that are also running some awesome weekly winter specials to keep our tastebuds excited after a day on the water or in the mountain bike park.

Russel’s world famous The Duke of Marlborough  and Hones Garden, are just absolutely fabulous, among others.

Paihia’s Terra, Charlotte’s kitchen, The Crafty Local along the waterfront are just marvelous places with excellent food, service and soul.

There are just so many activities, wineries, restaurants, bars, farmers markets and shopping to do in Northland, I have just mentioned a fraction. Winter is by far an epic time to visit as you most likely will have the beach and the bike trail to yourself.
