October School holidays in the Bay of Islands

Are you ready?

Just as Schools reopend after lockdown it is time for the October school holidays again. Yes, I am defenitely spending them with the kids on one of the many many absolutely stunning beaches in Northland. Russells beaches are awesome, the pebbled beach right in front of town is great and VERY close to the local pubs in Russell. So let the kids run loose on the beach while you sip a nice cold glass wine. On the back side of Russell there is also the quieter Long Beach with its crystal clear water and views out to the outer islands.

Our family’s favourite beaches are Taupo Bay and Matauri Bay. Both places have great camping grounds and fabulous beaches and Taupo Bay also has quite a few batches to rent.

There are Multiple boat tours you can take to get around the outer Islands. Seashuttle bay of islandsĀ takes you out to Roberton Island-Twin Lagoon (among other Islands) for guided walks and a beautiful day out on the water. Paihia Dive will takeĀ  you to the best diving spots around. They are a very safe and reliable company with local guids and years of experience within the Northland waters.

Air New Zealand is “flying” epic deals all through October between Wellington and Kerikeri. So get out of the big Wellington smoke and head up to the beaches in Northland.

Of course Urupukapuka Island with is stunning Otehei Bay should not be dismissed. Their restaurant is open all year around and those bean bags on the beach are just simply the best.

No matter what you get up to these coming school holidays, drive safe and see you on the beach.

Much Aroha,

Julia
